Hello and glad to be here
I found this forum while browsing on my Tap-A-Talk application on my phone. Glad to have encountered it.
My BF and I are owners of a middle-aged creamy/ginger boy "Casper", that we adopted from a friend of mine last winter who could not keep him any longer (he had him since he was a kitten so it was rather heart breaking for him). He's 10-1/2 years old, and one of the best behaved kitties either of us have ever met. Very laid back, filled with personality, confident, and sociable. Loving in his own way (i.e, not exactly a cuddly sort but does enjoy being near us and trusts us beyond reproach to the point where he will present his belly for long rubs). We have developed a special bed time "head bump" game ritual where he helps us "make the bed" and he will bump our heads until he gets so wound up he flumps down in shear happiness. He loves being groomed, and believe it or not - we have even given him a shower once because he just seemed like he needed a good bath, and he tolerated that remarkably well (even the low powered blow dry afterwards!) He really is a good sport about things!
His health has been pretty good other than one problem with a bladder infection which we caught before it got out of hand - and some issues with food gobbling in the mornings leading to occasional bouts of vomiting of the undigested kibble. We don't know if he always did this, because of him being outdoors a lot before he came to us; he may have always done this but his prior owner wasn't too aware of it. He also has gained weight since coming to us as he used to be an indoor-outdoor cat and now is only indoors expending less energy, getting older and sleeping quite a bit more.
Him and my BF are best buddies. He has brought such joy to our home, more than I ever expected. We both know quite a bit about cats, both having been owners before (he actually has had many through his life) but we always can use more advice.
Here's my boy
Oh yes now a bit about me. I'm an office manager at an architectural firm in NYC. I've been in this type of business for over 30 years now. I also am the bookkeeper there. I'm the owner of a Craftsman money pit; a home which I love but is the bane of my existence and I'll probably be dead before I ever finish renovating it
. I love to cook, garden, photography and am a bit design obsessed. I'm also involved in a virtual on-line world, Twitter, and I have a blog which started out as a cooking blog but lately seems to be morphing into one about my home as well.
My boyfriend and I have been together for several years, and we share our home. He is in customer service for a large stock company in Brooklyn. He's very tech oriented, a talented digital photography artist and on/off blogger of a myriad of subjects depending on his mood. We live in NJ, a nice quiet existence mostly spending time with each other.
