Hello... I apologize for this being my first post (hi hello, my name is Mandy--sorry for the fast introduction) but I am worried.
I also apologize for how long this might be.
Okay, so Sunday night I find a little stray kitten that jumped into my arms purring and was very skinny... so I thought I'd take it home, give it a bath and feed it. I already have a four year old cat so I figured it wouldn't be too bad to bring home this stray until I found its owners. So, I go buy soft food and kitty litter, so I can separate the two (in case this kitten has FLV).
Just today two things have happened.
First, my older cat somehow managed to open the door and when I came home from work I found the two running around playing with each other. I went ahead and cleaned out his water bowl thinking the kitten might have drank from it, however, I've kept his food (as the kitten has his own kitty food ((which is much smaller for him to eat than the adult food)) so I don't think he touched his food) anyways, so I went ahead and cleaned out both of their litter boxes just in case--and this is where I am worried. I found in the kitten's litter box little spots of light colored blood on some of his feces. The first two nights I had him I would check his poop to make sure he didn't have any worms and it seemed find. He did however have some white grainy--almost sand size grains in his poop but I thought that might have been the soft food I gave him--yet today it leaves me worried.
Things are alright though considering he has an appointment tomorrow at 9AM to get checked out and shots, yet the other thing I am worried about is if he does have the FLV--will my 4 year old cat "catch" it considering his age and that he has already had his vaccine for the FLV? It has worried me since I've been home and have cleaned their stuff... I just want both of them to be okay... tomorrow morning cannot come soon enough.
Thankfully I was able to come across this forum so maybe some of you can suggest some things that might help me until tomorrow morning... this kitten is thin, thin enough where you can see his hip bone, but he has energy and he is very playful, but he does sleep quite a bit (though I'm not sure if that's out of boredom or not, earlier when I came home he had all this energy and was very playful).
Again I am sorry if this is long.. I am just worried. Thanks a lot for reading!
