Hi. Welcome to the site. I am sure you will have plenty to offer here, and hope others are able to give something back, this is a lovely place to hang out in.  Do you live with a cat/s right now or are you taking a break from life in the fur zone?

Your cats have fantastic names! My best friend's cat is called Dolly Parton :)

Tupac and Biggie are super cute but they look like trouble as well

Agree, those names are great @Catnurse!
And what a fine collection of kitties.
Is baby Ducky the latest addition to indoor cats, and if so, I hope healthy too.  Ducky looks like a fun ball of fluff that will be able to add nicely to the trouble Tupac, Biggie and co' get up to.

Hi there

I joined today also!

I have a request.

I have an overweight cat Peebo that  I hope to get him to lose weight slowly

over the spring and summer months by putting him on canned Friskies food

that is what I can afford..I have 3 male cats..out door and inside depending on

the weather.

I have had to clean Peebos rear for the last 3 years several times a day

with very wet papertowell and then went to using no scent no fragrance human

baby wipes. He is extremely messy...on the rear......

Is there anything better I can do to clean him several times a day?

Will getting him off the dry no grain cat food he was eating the past year

will that make him defecate less and make less of a smearing mess on the rear?

Since going on canned food the last two days ..starting it they are not using the litter

box like they were on the dry grain free food  that was expensive food but dry..

Is there a difference ..will the canned not irritate the intestines as much and not cause

so many bowell movements as the dry grain free food did?

After 90 nights of cleaning the litter box at 2 am , 5 am, ll am and    around 10 pm a night

and getting up to clean the big cat Peebos rear when I heard him go down the hall to use the

litter box, I am totally worn out and just exasperated..physically from caring for him..

I got one break last night when the outside temp was in the  fifties and they all slept on

fleece blankets on the covered high off the ground front porch.

For those of you who had children, I feel for you

as you must have went without sleep for a few years per child

you had.....you poor fathers and mothers too..and grandmothers

whoever was the care giver to a child.

Welcome
Perhaps you can post something in the Cat Health or Nutrition forums- I'm sure many members would help you out. There are many threads in those forums about helping overweight cats and litter box issues.

Best wishes to Peebo

Hi SheriT & welcome as well.  I would say if your cat is pooping a few times a day, there is definitely an intolerance there, if not an allergy of some sort. How terrible. Poor boy!

(I think the norm is once every other day, even less for those on raw).

Yes, wet food should be better on his tummy, & for him.  If not, you may need to start looking at ingredients that he may be reacting to. (& trying a limited ingredient wet food).

The first thing I would ask is, is the dry food grain free?

This would be the first & easiest thing to eliminate by going grain free. As many on this site will tell you, cats do not need any grains!

Why they put them in the food is beyond me!  (Fillers!)

Sense you said Friskies is where your budget it, It has been recommended on here that if you have to go w/ that, then the Friskie's  Classics is recommended

because they have no or very little grain,... I think.

I'm sure someone else will be along soon who can offer you more help, but I just wanted to give you a little info to hopefully help.

You should start your own thread to get some answers & guidance from other members. I hope this helped a little at least for now..

Good idea

will start a thread..

Great advice from you and a couple other members..

I am so grateful..I have had cats all my life

but never had an obese one and only one with

urinary disease back before people knew much

about it .

I am making notes and just totally overwhelmed

I have some illnesses myself and at times

I have brain fog..and fatigued from CFS and

more.

Taking care  of 3 cats that are up all night

banging at my bedroom door and cleaning the litter box

and one of their behinds..rear is totally exhausting me

with CFS / myalgic encephalomyelitis ..illness.myself.

So thank you so much..
