On the surface it would appear to be great but for those of us who have done LOTS of research and comparisons it is truely a mid level premium... You have to get research from multiple sourcesOriginally Posted by Lindsey
I'm surprised at your Vet's reaction, but you can't please everyone. This food is made by a very well known Vet - Dr. Jane Bicks - who served on the board of Cornell's Feline Health Center and was President of the Veterinary Medical Association in NYC.
The food is made in "micro-batches" and shipped within 2 or 3 weeks of manufacture.
But you're right that some commercially made pet foods sit on the shelf. Studies have reported some dog food is made 18 months before being sold in a pet store!!!!
PM me .. I have quite a few ideas but no time to post right nowOriginally Posted by GoldenKitty45
When we had the membership at Costco, we would get the Kirkland food (its made by Diamond). But we don't have that now and had to find another reasonable priced food.
I have a hard time with such nebulous ingredients.Originally Posted by Lindsey

While your food choice may be great, I just can't see myself subjecting my pets to something so vague.
What, exactly, is 'potato product' and 'egg product' anyway?
Not to mention, that by their feeding guidelines, it seems that I'd be feeding almost 4 times as much food daily than I do now, that indicates an abundance of fillers to me.
Just a general FYI as you showed with one brand ... Many are constantly changing formulas ... I suggest reading the label at least every three months no matter what commercial food you feedOriginally Posted by 2dogmom
Since this thread has been bumped up I wanted to mention that I am no longer a fan of Canidae since they changed the formula.

It isn't bad, but just the same I've switched to Wellness and I have stopped recommending it as a good value for the money.
