Bella has a spot under her right ear about the size of a silver dollar. She's had it for quite a while. It itches her something crazy and she will scratch it to the point it's raw and bleeding with scabbed flesh hanging.

We really hate it for her but are unsure what to do. We had a creme from a vet called Animax that doesn't seem to do anything. A cortizone shot helps a lot, she will leave it alone but it wears off quickly and we can't afford a shot every 2 weeks.

Does anyone have any ideas for lotions or cremes that moisterize and heal that are suitable for cats?

As you found out, cortisone works wonders...temporarily. You certainly don't want to give that to Bella too often, since it can have bad side effects.
Besides, the cortisone is only masking the symptoms, it's not doing anything to actually get rid of the skin problem itself.

I think you need to find out what *exactly* is causing the itchy spot under Bella's ear. The creme may not have worked because it might have been wrong for her particular problem. If your current vet can't help, get a second opinion. You might try finding a feline specialist in dermatology.

Hope you can get to the bottom of it and help Bella feel better soon.
