Ok Perhaps a morbid question. My 17 yr cat is on his last legs (jaw cancer, kidney failure). He's down to under 8lbs now. I don't expect him to last but a few more day if that. My dogs died during the summer so I buried them in the my garden/backyard. I live in Fairbanks, Alaska where winters are long and cold. The ground won't thaw until May. We tend to be fairly self-sufficient up here sometime out of necessity, other times just because we're independent.
I have a woodstove and lots of wood. So I was wondering if I could just cremate him in the wood stove. Build a fire, let it burn down to coals. Then build a another fire on top of the body. Add more wood until it's mostly ashes.
Probably not all the large bone will burn down completely. But I can just scoop them all up and bury them in May.
Any suggestions about how to do it? Not interested in a discussion of whether to do it. You have figure out what to do with the body, I prefer to personally attend to my pet's remains as opposed to throwing them out in the trash.
