Happy Black Cat Appreciation Day!

Black cats are my favorite cats, especially when they have green eyes (like me!). I have been blessed with several black beauties in my life: Mika, Willi, Loki, Smudge (all at the Rainbow Bridge now), and now, Smedley, Sarah Jane and Rudie (a kitten). I feed a colony of ferals in a parking lot, and two are my favorites: Loki II (named after my boy), a girl, and a smaller version of her, Squeaker, both are solid black, with pale green eyes. Gorgeous, and such sweeties! Loki II is the cat in my avatar, eating in the back of my SUV.

Tasha, she has gone to Heaven with my Mom and Dad. She was all black except for the tiniest spot of white on her throat, also a sweetheart.

August 17 is Black Cat Appreciation Day. Zoe gets an extra treat today.

Just out of curiosity...
Where in the world is this special day celebrated?

Over here in Italy we have two special days for cats.
One is February 17, each year, dedicated to all cats.
The other one is November 17, and is dedicated only to Black Cats.

Weird like it is 17, all over the world.
