January 1, 2011 marks The Chairman Squishy Meow (aka Squishy)'s THIRD GOTCHA DAY!!!!
This is quite a monumental day for us. Squishy was adopted from the shelter where I volunteered as a senior, potentially contagious, the night before he was scheduled to be euthanized. Three years, several surgeries, and thousands of dollars later here we are.
Anywhere from 15 - 18 years old, he's quite a character. He bites fingers, then licks them like crazy. He has a big "fluffy" (fat) tummy that he loves having rubbed. And he has the most obnoxious voice in which he tells me all about how he spent his day.
Wouldn't trade him for the world - issues & expenses or not - if I had to go back I'd do it all over again just the same. No matter how much longer he's here (and according to his bloodwork 2 months ago he's healthy as a horse), I'm lucky for every day I've got him. He's just a big ol' teddy bear!
Don't pass over senior pets just because they're "old". You never know how much time you may have with them, and I've had more with him than I thought I would.
