I have a neighbor down my street who keeps an extremely friendly adolescent shorthaired cat named Bernard. Because of my Dad's allergies, my family is not able to own pets so I am always very happy to pet my friend. However, the last time I went to see him, he was shedding fur everywhere! My hands were literally covered in fur. I was shocked because I didn't realize that shorthaired cats do shed fur before summer. Are there any hand grooming techniques that I should know to help Bernard out while petting him? I would take a brush, but I don't want to insult his owners who are already kind and generous in letting me pet their cat and also have busy work schedules and a rambunctious toddler.
