I just got my cat back today from the vet and it's been about 12 hours or so since returning and she still has not eaten or drank. Should I be concerned? Her flanks are also shallow, but that's due to pain, she is sucking in (at least I assume, because I had a gall bladder surgery before and I could not relax my muscles for a week and had to suck in 24/7).
So I got her at 9 am, and it's 11:19 pm. She is sleeping in a fine position and has given me some purrs and I have witnessed her groom herself and the other cat but I'm just worried about her lack of interest in eating and drinking. All these articles online say they can resume eating once they return home, so that's why I'm a bit fretful.
Honestly, I've never had a pet spayed before either. I've always gotten my animals already spayed and healed, but not kept an intact cat to spay on my own terms and have recover here.
So she's recovering in a room and I have food and water nearby, just untouched. She was spayed yesterday and had to recover there overnight and I got her at 9 am once they opened.
The sight of her incision looks fine and she displays normal behaviour like purring when I interact and grooming.
Am I just overthinking it and worrying too much?
