My husband bought me a molcajete for Christmas:
I'm in the process of seasoning it and it is a fairly involved process. I've soaked and scrubbed and now I am grinding beans to a powder. You have to do this four times. I'm still on the first. :lol3: It's harder than it looks. :lol3: After the beans then you grind dry rice four times, then wet rice a few times and then chiles, garlic, salt and cumin and let it sit for 12 years. I've done a bit of research on the seasoning and this method seems the most thorough. There are a few that swear by taking it to a do it yourself car wash and using the power sprayer on it., No thanks! :lol3:
