That explains it. If they are going to try to take a piece of the tissue, they probably prefer anesthesia. The specialist is going to do the procedure, right? His bloodwork was fine, which is great and the vet will know how to monitor your cat while he is under. I know that this is scary, but I agree that I also don't see many other options aside from proceeding and determining exactly what is going on. Get all the details about post op, especially if they do biopsy. Let us know what happens.

He got his ct scan this morning and is currently at the vets on fluids until later this afternoon.

CT scan showed his right nasal passage had a soft mass (the one we could see while looking up his right nostril), which she was able to use her forceps to take out for the biopsy. She said it was the size of a large pea. Deeper in his sinus she said that there are some changes, shes not sure if its fluid or a soft mass so we will have to wait for the radiologist to look at it in the next few days. Good news is he will arleady be breathing much better than before with that polyp finally gone. Hoping he won't need surgery for whatever the fluid or inflammation is deeper in his sinus.

That is great news and I am so glad that his breathing will be easier. Please let us know what you find out.

I suspected that she planned to try to get the mass when anesthesia was mentioned and that was a much better option than a biopsy.

UPDATE!!!

His biopsy results came back and it's not cancer! She said its a granuloma. He was diagnosed with eosinophilic rhinitis. He wont need any more surgical intervention, but she's calling our previous internist to see if they can get him on a treatment plan. I'm so relieved for him!!!

Now the only thing I'm concerned about is his eye. It's been off since he went under anesthesia last week. The surgeon said it's weird but she's not concerned...she said hopefully it will get better on its own.
