Your information is very old. The link to usrecallnews is back to 2006. Consumeraffairs.com is erroneously and untruthfully reported a recall to CNN which was completely false. CNN had to recant the story. There has been a recent surge of stories circulating from this outdated and non factual information. In this thread the threads have been initiated by people with no posting history here. These rumors crop up every couple of years. Consumeraffairs.com has nothing to do with any Federal investigating or reporting agencies and has recently come under fire from the most ardent of ANTI pet food industry bloggers for causing panic for consumers. By all means do research but please make sure when you are putting information out there that it is from a credible source. None of these links contain valid information and most of it is very old.http://www.consumeraffairs.com/pets/greenies.html

There-is-no-such-thing,as-dental-chews,it-doesn't-work,its-a-marketing-tactic.It's-like-saying,humans-only-have-to-chew-fritos-and-potato-chips,tell-that-one-to-your-dentist. :high5:
At this time, Nutro hasn’t been made aware of any investigation nor have we been contacted by the FDA - Nutro works collaboratively w/the FDA - All Nutro products are safe and conform to FDA standards - The claim is based on the denial of ConsumerAffairs.com’s request to the FDA’s Division of Freedom of Information Statement On April 20, ConsumerAffairs.com posted a story claiming that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has an ongoing investigation into NUTRO[emoji]174[/emoji] pet food. Have you contacted your vet to see if there is any reason for this, or have you called the the Greenies 800 customer care line to report your personal experience?Yes, Flint provided that link.
My personal experience is that the greenie's dental treats caused a flare of colitis in our sensitive kitty. I stopped using them many years ago because of this.
I do use the pill pockets for kitties other than Sheldon (with the colitis), though I've never used a whole one. I just tear off only as much as is needed to cover the pill, usually less than 1/4 of the pocket. None have ever had a problem with them. :cross:
The first link above leads to a thread in a forum, where a few folks said during 2012
No, but that's a lot of negative anecdotal reporting. Since I'm not enamored with the ingredients and don't see how they really help with dental issues, I don't ever plan to feed any Greenies to Aria even though I got a free sample as well from my local pet store.Quote:
Has anyone seen any "CURRENT" info related to issues with Feline Greenies?
PFD sent me some sample packs that I had been giving to the Ferals occasionally,
none of them got sick as far as I could tell, but now I am hesitant to continue using them.
There is NO recall on any Greenies products. There have been no recalls on Greenies products. This rumor has surfaced and is completely untrue.I just bought the salmon dental greenies for my cat to try but now I'm not sure if I should return them or not? I checked their facebook page and they said none of their products have been recalled and all are safe but you don't know if they are told to say this to make money. What treats are the safest, those freeze dried ones, can't remember the name? Soo sorry to hear about the sick cats, hope they improve.
Take care
