That's good to know. It's to the point where I don't trust updates and google before installing them to see if people are having trouble with them.

Oh in that case you can go into system preference > accounts > your account > and login items.

The other way is to click on the Skype icon in your dock and uncheck the open at login, but many complain that it doesn't remember that setting and rechecks itself.

I worked! I finally found the right place to turn it off and it stayed off the next time I started the computer.
