The Sanyo blimp has been circling my neighborhood, since yesterday (there's a big LPGA tournament at the nearby golf course) and it drifts over my house, every few minutes. Ike finally noticed it, around 11:00. Every time it comes over, he runs into the yard and barks at it. What a doofus!
Since the weather is so nice, I decided to start leash-training Pearl. Once around the block seemed to be a good start. Two doors down from home, I stopped to talk to the neighbors and their cat. He's a huge cream-colored fellow, who comes to visit Opie and Rowdy, when the front door is open. Of course, Pearl wanted to play with him. The woman picked up the cat and put him in the bed of their pickup because the cat beats up dogs. As we stood there talking, the cat oozed under the truck and crept up on Pearl, who made friendly overtures. The cat promptly hissed and swiped Pearl across the nose. Undeterred, Pearl kept trying to play. I was holding her back, so that she wouldn't get hurt and the cat made another run. Fortunately, for everyone, the owners picked him up and I took Pearl home, none the worse for wear.
Pearl still doesn't understand what those hisses mean. One of these days, some cat is going to rip her, I'm sure.
