Wow, I don't even know how long it's been since I've posted here. Work and family has kept me very busy these past few months. Anyway here's the situation...
When I came home from work on Monday, I noticed that Miko had urine on the right/back side of his leg. I washed off the area and observed him for about an hour. During that hour, he would go back and forth from the water fountain and the litter box. He did it about 20 times, and he would only urinate in little droplets. I immediately called the vet and rushed him down to their hospital. When the vet pressed against his bladder, his urine just came gushing out like a waterfall. While Dr. A ran the urine samples, I waited with Miko in the room. Dr. A said he wanted to keep Miko overnight pending the results from the urine test. The next day, he said Miko's white blood cell count was higher than normal and he seemed to have an inflamed bladder. He gave Miko a relaxant to bring the bladder down to a normal size and some antibiotics. At this point, I asked him to do an x-rays and they did. They didn't see any stones or anything else blocking his urinary tract. They kept him overnight again for more observation.
Fast forward to today (Wed), they asked if it was okay to out a catheter in since Miko still wasn't urinating on his own. Of course, I told them they can. He called me back and said that he had very tiny stones in his tract that were not visible during the x-ray. Because of the stones they were unable to put the catheter in. And because he was recovering from the sedation, they were unable to operate on him until tomorrow morning (around 1am). Right now, he's down at the animal hospital and they said he's doing well considering his situation. They've been calling me every hour with updates. On another note, they are concerned about his right hind leg. They think he might have a problem with his nervous system and they are going to run more tests and look into it when they do his surgery tomorrow. I've had Miko since he was 2 months old (he's 10 yrs old now) so I've been beyond emotional these past few days. My family and I ask that you all pray (and send good vibes) that Miko's surgery will be successful and that he makes a speedy recovery. Thank you in advance!
