My 6-year-old male, Grigio, is having kidney problems (still being tested to determine whether it's CRF or something that can be arrested), and my vet suggested putting him on k/d. Grigio resisted at first but seems to be adjusting to it.
My question is whether anyone knows a better food, prescription or not.
I know that protein is not longer considered an issue--yet many of the prescription diets limit protein.
A basic food that is low in phosphorus might be just as good.
In k/d's favor, I did a comparison of the various prescription diets, and k/d seems to have features very well suited to the various issues in kidney disease.
Any other recommendations?
