Just my own thinking on this topic.
I agree, but I still think that neutering on both sides is the answer. It greatly improves the male's quality of life as well.

I don't think anyone is arguing that males don't need to be neutered, but it's not just a population issue.

Definitely. I am quite sure that neither Willowy nor I think that males don't need to be neutered. For my own part, I used to think that neutering somehow spoiled the character of a male cat, but that was long ago. I have since come to realize that I was mixing up neutering with completely unrelated character traits.
