Are they safe for cats & dogs? I saw a post at another forum that they were safe but I thought they weren't.

Just because a company markets a product for cats and dogs, doesn't mean it's actually in the pet's best interest to be taking that product. There are plenty of examples of commercially available products doing great harm to animals (like Hartz flea meds, for example).
