Ooh, Brian - we could start an international version of Scattergories!  We lived in England off and on for a dozen years or so. I know more about British culture from the 90s than I do US culture.

I thought of The Pointer Sisters myself but couldn't rationalise them in my head with being "a girl band".  Bananarama were more girly, whilst the Pointer Sisters were definitely women.

Manx is from the Isle of Man and bears no commonality to the Isle of Wight.  However, coincidentally, the word Wight means a supernatural being such as a sprite.  And the Isle of Wight is teeming with them
