hello,

I adopted a 2 year old cat yesterday from a local shelter. He is adjusting well, using the litter box, drinking and eating a little bit. The shelter said that he might have trouble eating because of the adjustment but he is doing ok so far. We have noticed that he often gags, usually when we pet him. only one time has he thrown up what appeared to be mucus. We are wondering if the gagging would be a nervous thing? Is it possible that when he gets nervous he starts gagging or could there be another issue here? Today he was drinking water and gagging at the same time, but no throw up.

let me know is anyone has any ideas about this

I find it a good rule to take a new pet to the vet to get checked out....even if they seem healthy.  This is definitely something I would ask the vet about during that visit.

Good luck with him.
