Furminator, yeay or nay?

I have two long haired cats. One if the especially sheds a lot. They are brithers but have two conpleatly different coat/fur types (I have a teory that they do not have the same father, but forgot to ask when I bought them). Anyway, I have read/seen one reviews for two british shorthairs (Chris and Eves Turbo and Jet). And it seemed very very effective.
Anyone have any experience with the furminator for long haired cats? It is good? And is it every day all year sheading or just seasonal shedding? (They are indoor cats, so I know that effects the seasonal shedding). And do zise matter, brush wise? As in are the "metal spikes" different? The head, I think, as far as I can see, are smaller in the smaler version, but I can't really get a good look at the brush part from pitcures.
