So far so good!  He had the treatment done yesterday and they said he's eating and drinking and doing well.  The girl kitties miss him...man it's quiet in here.

Will pick him up sometime this week.

DO NOT EVEN THINK OF PUTTING HIM DOWN!  If Felimazole is giving him digestive issues, ask your vet about the transdermal gel.  It's still much better than the y/d diet, and allows he meds to bypass his digestive tract while getting into his bloodstream.  About the radioactive iodine treatment...it doesn't cause kidney failure, but once the metabolism is slowed down, kidney disease can be detected as hyperthyroidism masks it by speeding up the circulation and the kidneys' filtering processes.  Once he has been on meds for a while, long enough to stabilize, blood work will reveal his true kidney function and from there you can determine if he is a candidate for i131.  Most docs will work with you on financing, and many facilities take Care Credit.  There is help to be found.  Also, as far as advice, there is a wonderful hyperthyroid cats group on Facebook.  Good luck!
