Help, please! I need some advice/reassurance here.
My male cat, Sunny, is 11 months old. Two days ago, I noticed he was visiting the litter box very frequently, like every half hour. The spots he left in the box were very small. I knew this was an issue so we went to the emergency vet since it was a weekend.
After some tests the emergency vet said it was probably not an infection and he was not fully blocked. She prescribed pain meds and an anti-inflammatory and sent us home with suggestions of switching food. All seemed to be well until a few hours ago.
A few hours ago I noticed he urinated just fine, but then hopped back in, unproductively, just after. I didn't like the looks of that, so we went back to our normal vet a couple hours ago.
He said that the bladder was empty, but prescribed an antibiotic as well as urinary care food. Sunny can urinate, but he feels like he always needs to.
We got home about an hour ago, and my poor baby has barely left the box. He keeps trying to go, and it's breaking my heart.
What more can I do? Is it just a matter of waiting for the antibiotic to kick in? I'm in tears for my little guy.
Any advice - anything at all would help. I've read a lot on these forums, but never posted until now. Sorry for the novel. I just want to be a good kitty mom.
