Hi
I am taking the cat to the vet tomorrow but just wondered if I might be able to get any advice here. We found this kitty late evening so our vet was closed (they're barely helpful even when they're open, tbh)
Sorry for being graphic but the stray is about 3 weeks old, VERY small, fits in my hand. It has an injured eye which will not open - I don't want to force it. It's sort of glued shut by a yellowy gunk! He was clumsy but active when I was first handed him but once home has been very quiet and just seems to want to sleep. He was however meowing a lot in the car when we drove around to a few pet rescues asking for help (none found). I used a flea comb as he had some fly eggs on his tail and back thigh (Ewww... the kodak moment where I realised what they were!)
I used a spare nursing bottle as we already have 2 kittens (one 14 weeks healthy, the other 10 weeks home quarantine being treated for Giardia). I've given the 3-wk old a tiny bit of soft wet food (he practically swallowed the spoon) and made a breeder recommended recipe of cream, egg yolk and honey. Got a few drops of that and some water in him as he does seem dehydrated.
I'm scared to check him in the morning (I'm in the U.S.) as am just clinging to hope that he'll make it and is just resting due to the infection? Perhaps he could not sleep soundly til now?
Can anyone possibly advise whether kitty may just be exhausted?
I'd be so grateful. This is heartbreaking and it feels like I'm the only one who cares what happens to this kitten and the strays in my neighbourhood.
Thanks
