There is more evidence for environmental toxins (e.g., pollution from chemical plants) causing genetic mutations that lead to autism. However, this is an area still being researched. Once the results are fully in, this may be found untrue as well.
Right now, we don't really know what causes autism other than that this is a purely biological disorder.
