Fluoxetine?

I was wondering if anyone else had adverse effects with their cat on it?

My catcwas prescribed Reconcile (brand for the fluoxetine) by her behavior consult vet. He had warned me that RARELY constipation and urine retention were side effects.
It took her 4 days on a LOW dose to get both symptoms.
So now 4 days off the fluoxetine and a couple rounds of miralax and one vet visit, we are back to square one.
I hope there's another similar med for her that will work better with her (clearly) sensitive system.

Has anyone else experienced this? My primary vet had not heard of these side effects.

Those can be side effects. I would contact your behavior vet and see what else you can try

I ended up getting her on buspirone!

And this didn’t have the urine retention side effect?

also just wondering what you were medicating your cat for, and if the buspirone helped.My cat’s issue is behavioural/aggression at times.
