First of all, I am taking this cat to the vet next week, but I'm curious to know what this could be.
A female in my TNR colony has been getting friendlier, and I noticed that she had a place on one side of her chest that has a fluid-filled sack or nodule on it. It has no fur on it at all. It looks kind of like a pink balloon, about the diameter of a quarter.
She doesn't seem sick at all, and it doesn't seem to be causing her distress, but I'm afraid it will burst and get infected at some point, so I'm taking her the vet for minor surgery. Fortunately, it's in a spot where there's plenty of loose skin to sew up once it's removed.
The thing is, I've never seen anything like this in 40 years of owning cats. Any ideas?
