This is dedicated to all Pet owners, who have had to put their pet down.
We were the third owner of this "CAT". From what we knew she had been used for preeding, and we didn't know wht we were in for...She was a beautiful Himalyan. We aquired her from a home that had a toddler and a dog. She spent most of her time hiding under the bed, till child and dog had gone to bed. We have always had cats, but never a pedigreed cat. Our children had grown and gone, so there was no reason we shouldn't have another pet.
Fluffy spent the first month in our home hiding. She would eat, and use the litter box,but wanted no more to do with us. Needless to say it took time and patience to get her to accept us, but after running away at the lightest noise I could and she wouldn;t run. It seemed to take forever for her to adjust to us, and her new home. She would never allow us to pick her up or hold her but was content to lie beside me as close as she could get, and would take all the petting, neck scratching, and tummy rubbing I could give. When she decided to get up with me, she GOT UP ! She gradually took over our lives and hearts, as only a Cat can do.
All the boughten toys in the orld couldn't compare to a lightly rolled up piece of foil, or a piece of yarn with a small piece of paper tied to the end. She showed her trust and love by lying on her back with all feet in the air and snooze. She loved a romp with fresh catnip, and would roll and love it to death. When we would go away for an hour or a day, she would be at the door when we opened it. She seemed to know the sound of the car and was ready with a scolding for going away. She was my constant compaion for over twelve years giving Love as only a Cat can. When she didn't want to be touched, she could squirm away like an eel, but when she wanted attention, nothing would stand in her way.
When we retired from work, we were with her 24-7 and became doubly attached.
Flufy wasn't what you would call a normal Cat. She was a Cat that loved spaghetti sause, the more garlic and cheese the better, mushroom juice, ham the more expensive the better she loved it, she was a cat who would try lots of odd goodys and suprie you all the time. She would sit at a closed door waiting till you came out then tell you about not letting her in. She would lie at your feet with her nose almost on your toes till she was ready to do something else. All in all she was a CAT, indepndent and loving .
A few months ago, Fluffy became ill. The usual run of visits to the Vet didn't give us much hope. We fought to keep our pet with us, but finally had to do the humane thing, as she could barely walk, and wouldn't eat. I couldn't take her to the Vet, but my husband did. It nearly did both of us in.
We will always havw an Ache in our Hearts, but Fluffy isn't hurting antmore, and if there is a Cat Heaven , she is number one there, as she was here, with her unfailing devotion and love. We can't say we were Fluffy's owners for no one owns a Cat, they own you heart and soul. We say goodbye, with sorrow and love.
