I have three little fur children, we adopted our newest addition, Emily, about a month ago after she was found at a gas station at 6 weeks. Anyways, I live in an apartment building, not the nicest, and we have stray cats that off and on go through the dumpster, and people decide to bring them into their place. I am all for helping out a stray, but because they did, and the cat(s) were covered in fleas, they have spread through the whole apartment building it seems. My neighbor was complaining his dog had fleas and he has been seeing them a lot more recently. So of course I check the cats, and I found a flea
. I gave all three flea treatment and took powder to my furniture, but I know its not going to be the last of them.
I am moving in with my fiance this weekend, well starting to move in, and I was wondering what I should do. The last thing I want is to move the fleas with us. I was hoping to move the fur children tomorrow and give them a bath at the new house so they would be fresh and clean, but all of my other stuff, like my couch, bed, clothing, etc. what should I do with it? I was going to try a flea bomb but I have heard mix reviews, especially the film it leaves behind. If I put a lot into the new garage, will the cold kill them? (they are calling for snow this weekend) and just slowly move boxes in afterwards?
Everyone knows moving is bad enough, so if anyone has any suggestions for moving without moving the fleas, I would greatly appreciate it. I would rather fix the problem in my one bedroom apartment than try to fix it in the new five bedroom house.
