Our Momma cat (Rory) has four little kittens (Snow White, Precious, Blessing, and Jack) a little over a week old. Is it safe for Rory to wear a flea collar while the wee ones are so young? Thank you.
Rory is not wearing one right now, not since before the births. I was very leary about putting one on her so I thought I'd ask. A couple of days ago I found 2 fleas on Blessing, but they are not there now.Originally Posted by GoldenKitty45
NO - take it off. Remember the flea collar contains poison and the kittens could lick it or chew on it and get sick or die.
Why is the cat wearing one? Is she an inside/outside cat?
Cats can go into heat and get pregnant again as soon as a week after birth. You may want to consider making Rory indoor only for a few weeks until she can be spayed, lest you have another, bigger litter soon. Things may not go so smoothly next time. Just a heads up.Originally Posted by Pfred

Rory is an indoor/outdoor cat by the way.

Pfred....since we want this to be Rory's only litter...best thing to do is to put her on a sabitical from the outdoors until her kittens are weaned and she can be spayed. Once she has been spayed...she can once again enjoy the great outdoors.Originally Posted by Pfred
