my cat gave birth last night. i wasn't there for the first one. she had the second one about an hour later which didn't make it. she is a small cat and her belly was barely showing. we only knew she was pregnant for about 2 weeks, and thought she had a few weeks to go. mom has been up and around, ate, and used the litterbox. she don't seem distressed or in pain. she has let me pet her and feel her stomach. it dont feel like anything else is there. the baby that survived is a good healthy size. my questions are could she only have 2? Will she produce enough milk if she has only one baby?

Yes, she can have only 2. Make sure she has free feed dry kitten food and 2-3 cans of wet per day. Also, I would give her some KMR in her wet food for the calcium she needs. I have never owned a pregnant cat, but I have learned so much on this site. Other members should respond and they will have tons more info than I can give you.
