Hello all, I need some advice here. I have a 9 month old kitten who has become pregnant by her brother. This was not intentional as we did and still do want to get our cats all fixed.
Midnight who is our prego cat, has been sleeping on my side of the bed none stop every night for about 2 weeks now. I have tried making nesting boxes in a couple of places in our house, and with different things in them. She will hop in them for maybe 2-3 minutes and jump back out of them. I even have one in our bedroom that I have under a vanity with blankets over it so it is dark for her. She will not stay in them, she prefers my side of the bed. In the boxes I have tried using towels, blankets, old sheets and even ripped up newspaper. She just won't stay in any of them. Could it be to soon for her to choose yet, or am I going to be stuck with her having them on my bed?
As for how far is she, she looks like a miniature basketball. Her stomach feels somewhat hard, and I have been feeling the babies moving around for a little over a week now. She follows me everywhere, sleeps on my desk or on top a cabinet in my office when I am in here. When she is tired of being upstairs, she will get restless and start pacing the house until I let her downstairs. Then she looks at me like are you coming with me. Most of the time I do, that's when I will just lay on the bed, pet her a bit and then do some reading.
What I find strange and I don't recall seeing anyone else mention this is she has this habit of stretching out on her back, and she lays on her side all the time. That part I know most pregnant cats will do because of how big they get. She does clean herself quite a bit, she is still eating and drinking, but not like she normally does.
Also because both her and her brother are both mainly black will that mean her kittens will be too. My husband thinks they will be. Their own parents were dark too, the father who is a tomcat in our area is a big black cat and their mom I think was either a Grey tiger striped or Grey calico like. She is no longer around here, our friend took her to his daughters in New York.
So any advice on what I could be doing right or wrong here, I just want to make sure she is as comfortable as possible.
This is Midnight laying on one of the cabinets in my office
This is her laying on my desk
And this is the brother who was in on the act to get her pregnant.
She looks bigger in person, the phone I have takes crappy pictures.
Hopefully someone could help me, and yes please know they will be getting fixed within the next month. Along with declawing since they are inside cats and they do use their claws to play.
