I'm sooo happy!
A few weeks ago Colin gave me the ok to redo the guest bathroom. The former owners absolutely left it in disarry- they painted over an emerald green color with his Horrible tacky (and every other vile work i can think of) light light greenish blue color (ok it doesn't sound bad- but ya'll have no idea how horrid it looked!!!). They also did a very bad job of painting it and got it EVERYWHERE. It looked horrid. There were also dents in the wall left from their children, a dent in the door where they didn't have a doorstop and slammed the door into the wall, etc....and to top it off- i FINALLY figured out what the nasty brown stains on my wall were (obviously i didn't want to even know
) the painter said it was nicotine - yuck! it had bled through the paint and stained soo bad even the "goof off" wouldn't take it off. Yet another reason i hate smoke
Colin and I aren't smokers and didn't realize what those stains were- we had tried and tried to get them out but nothing had worked- now we know. They had also painted the ceiling two different shades of white and it looked aweful and splotchy. The mirror was scratched and broken in places (just a sheet glass mirror- nothing fancy). So after saving up for a while and setting a little money aside, i finally called out a painter yesterday to get an estiment (actually several different ones). I found one who is excellent
He gave me several references- i called all of them and got nothing but good remarks, has over 20+ years experience, lisenced/insured, BBB, you name it! I'm soo happy too! The bathroom is going to look lovely when it's finished!!!
The color I decided on is called Roasted Pepper (and i had them add a little extra white to the shade) - it's a beautiful red color by Ferrel Calhoun - a locally owned/opereated paint buiness- the paint is formulated especially for this humid climate and is excellent
It's a Satin finish so it's lovely but still a little glossy
The trim is going to be white (i was going to go with chocolate- but since it's a smaller space i think the white will open it up a bit better.) I also was able to find a new mirror/shower curtain/ towels (colin had EVERYTHING in nasty navy blue
that's what happens when my boyfriend decorates
) The shower curtain is gold/tan/chocolate thinly stripped and the towels are chocolate (so i did get a bit of the chocolate color i wanted
) I found a lovely mirror- it's HUGE on sale at Bed Bath & Beyond (as well as the other stuff) after going to 5 different places to look for one. It's a dirty gold color and looks awesome with the paint color/towels/shower curtain.
I plan to also add this as an accent piece when i get some extra $ to go on the wall across from the mirror. The colors in this are gorgeous and it brings out every color that the bathroom will be done with and looks sooooo classy!! I love it!

what do ya'll think? I'm going to see if i can borrow my mom's camera when it's all finished so i can snap some pictures!
I'm sooo happy about this! I've been saving up for several months now to do this and it's great to finally see it all comming together!
