I'm reposting this here.. the same thing is tacked on the end of another thread in 'care' but I thought it may get noticed more here. I really want to let my friend know your advice:
I'm reviving this post as a friend of mine just wrote to me about Capstar. She has a stray who comes round for food (he's neutered). She was concerned about his fleas ... this is what she wrote:
I bought some Capstar tabs for cats & small dogs. I crushed one in his food & he ate it all. Half an hour later he started scratching & jumping about, licking, biting, etc. He was in torment. Then he yelped & took off down the backyard & over the fence. I thought I'd killed him! Looked on the internet & found that th fleas go into a frenzy when the poison hits them & keep biting the host until they die & fall off.
She says she'll never use the stuff again. It sounds awful! I've never used tablets.
Has anyone else had this happen?
How do others deal with fleas and ferals?
