Does anyone feed a small amount of dry for one meal and then wet for maybe the 2 other meals? I be been feeding a little of both at each meal and he seems to tire of it. I leave pure bits out in a foraging food toy as well.
This is exactly what I do with Gizmo, and it works well. He usually only eats 1/8 cup a day of dry.Fortunately, Paul and Chula will eat wet and dry food. I feed them 3 small helpings of canned food during the day and then leave a little kibble out overnight so they won't wake me up looking for food. I've done this with all my cats and it's always worked well. For cats with specific medical needs or a kibble addiction, this might not be appropriate, however.
I think so . If Psycho ( awesome name btw ) seems satisfied and not constantly begging for food he is most likely getting enough .Psycho is 9.5 lbs and he eats 3 T of dry a day Orijen/Acana 1, 3 oz can of wet and some Pure Bites. Does that seem like enough food ?
Yeah, that sounds about right . My cats will do that too ..Thanks. He s a black cat too. He does not beg for food and if I put more out he does not eat it. He seems to self regulate his food intake.
Some days he may eat more but then he ll cut back the next day. Does that seem odd for a cat?
You are welcome . You can always give him a snack at night before bed if it makes you feel better ..Thank you for confirming that your cats do it too. I am not used to a cat that does not gorge himself. He probably has good appetite I just falsely think he is not eating enough. My husband says I worry too much.
