OK I need some advice on how to get a cat over fear issues. Saffire is a 10 year old spaded female who was completely declawed when I got her. She and my male still don't get along but I know that may just be the way it is. Anyway she is terrified of everything. Any loud noise and she jumps. She doesn't like the dishwasher, toaster, microwave anything that makes a loud bang or pop. The other night I made some toast and when the toaster popped she freaked out. Her fur was standing out on end and she was hissing. I tried to comfort her and tell her that everything was all right but it took her a good 15 minutes to calm down and go back to eating. Is there anything I can do to help her adjust to these sounds better. She is a rescue so I don't know her past history that well. I have had her for over a year.
