I've been working really hard at growing my own nails long because we aren't allowed to have nail tips as a health care professional.
I have several different shades of nail polish, mostly in the beige, pink, red range.
I have tried different brands such as Sally Hansen, OPI, Revlon and a few others. But I always gravitate back to Revlon as I find they have a better colour selection and I find their polish has staying power and tend to apply better than most of the others I have tried.
Probably my most favourite, is Revlon's "Cherries in the Snow." I bought it when it first came out in the late 1980's or early 1990's, and have been using it periodically ever since. Here is a link to it:

It is a blue based polish which means it doesn't have any orangish hue to it and is really a pure red.
I like it so much that I buy this shade in bulk!
Well, sort of! I tend to buy 2 at a time and when I have to start on the second bottle, I go out and buy 2 more, so I always have 2 spares.
My tips for making polish last:
1. Clean and well dried nails prior to applying polish;
2. Use a good base coat. I find for Revlon nail polish that their own base coat, Revlon Base Coat, really does help the polish last a lot longer. I've tried other base coats, but for some reason the Revlon one when paired with a Revlon polish really is superior;
3. Apply 2 thin coats of nail polish, allowing the first coat to dry really well before applying the second coat. In fact when I polish my nails it takes me 2 days, sometimes 3 before I am finished!
I apply the base coat and let it dry well. Then apply one thin coat of actual polish and let that dry for several hours....yes, hours, so that it's completely dry and hard. Then I apply the second coat and let that dry for several more hours (applying the second coat softens the first coat and base coat so you need more drying time for the second coat to make sure that all 3 layers are dry and hard). Then I apply a top coat. Again, letting it dry for several hours, followed by a second top coat.
4. Wear rubber gloves for dishes. It isn't the water that is hard on nail polish, it's the chlorine in the water that breaks down the polish.
So girls, what is your favourite brand and colour of nail polish?
