Although I prefer to make everything myself from scratch, I always keep a few basic ready meals in case I can't get to the shops, and being snowed in I decided to open one of those cardboard cartons of ready soup. So I opened it and then put it in the microwave to heat up. Bad idea - a sudden bang and some pops alerted me to the fact that there is metal lining to the carton! Fortunately I was able to save the soup and the microwave in time. So I heated it in a saucepan and transferred it to a bowl, putting it on the table while I cut some bread. A crash and a movement later, I saw Wellington had jumped on the table to investigate (it was lentil soup so there was nothing for him there) and there was soup all over the cloth and the chair, and a bowl on the floor. So I had a cheese sandwich, with Wellington lying across my shoulders for a cuddle as if to say 'sorry'.
