Greetings,
I come bearing more sad tidings tidings to this forum and further add to the record so our beloved companions are never forgotten.
Previous goodbye post for Mal:
Another Story To Add...
He was a papa kitty for many of our other cats and rescues.
His name is, was, Morpheus. Named after the Greek God of Dreams (we have a theme in our house...we even have a Loki).
He was a silver spotted Bengal and he was 14 years old.
We put him to sleep just an hour or so ago. He had been losing weight regularly for the past 6 months or so, despite getting good checkups from the vet. Multiple vets looked at him and thought he probably had cancer, but by the time we got to that, he was already pretty thin and we decided we didn't want to keep stressing him with vet trips.
He hung on for awhile, but he caught a cold from somewhere and started to have a hard time breathing and then he stopped eating, after 2 and 1/2 days, he had decided it was time and we agreed with him.
He went quickly and the attending vet though that he was very weak and barely hanging on.
Morpheus was a good cat, except for an odd habit of spraying the pantry door and front door. He played with his fuzzy mice, he became a lap cat as he got older, he constantly stole my computer chair when I got up for some reason, he groomed and took care of kittens we brought into the house and tolerated them when they got older and idolized him. He will probably only not be missed by MY cat Jynx. She hated him, he would just stare at her and drive her insane. She would bat at him anytime he was near - unless they were sharing a plate of food. Connoisseurs of cat food could put aside their differences for a few minutes it seems.
He is loved, he will be missed by more than me and my roommates.
Now, I am off to find comfort food, single malt scotch, a big box of Kleenex and will put away my man card for a bit to mourn him.
Goodbye Morpheus...I hope you're running wild with both Mal and Ashe now. Until we meet again my old friend.
Thanks for reading everyone.
