Does anyone have any experience with Acepromazine? Pepsi is two years old and STILL not spayed, not because we haven't tried, but because it's impossible to get her in the carrier. I've cancelled more than one vet appointment simply because I couldn't get her there.
We adopted her at the age of three months (according to the vet); she was a feral kitten. I'm very glad that she has a safe home, but unfortunately, she doesn't seem to recognize how safe.
She is still very fearful and I think always will be. Honestly, I don't mind too much about not getting her her boosters since all our cats are strictly indoors, but she really needs spayed.
I got Acepromazine tablets from the vet, and she has an appointment for Thursday morning. I know there is no guarantee that they will work on her, but I have to try them. (I really just need them to slow her reaction time enough so that my husband and I can get her in the carrier.) There is NO WAY I can get a tablet down her throat the normal way; has anyone had luck smashing them in food, like you do with lysine?
I'd appreciate any other suggestions anyone has as well. I feel so bad about the stress this visit is going to cause her, but she has to be spayed.
