'ello everyone...
I am a newbie here....
But not a newbie to cats....
Had them since I was 6 and am 37....
I was a vet tech for about 10 years....
About 10 years ago.....(hence the things one forgets!)
I've had personal experiences with CRF, FeLV, Cystitis and other kitty ailments in my life time......
I had one kitty for 21 years.....
That was my Socks.
I had to euthanize him because he had a tumor that was leaking infection into the pleura surrounding his lungs.....
He was too old for chemo my vet said and the tumor was inoperable....
So I buried him at a pet cemetary here in Memphis and I miss him to this day....
My ex-husband had two cats...
One who became my baby....
She died after a diligent fight with CRF....
Kisses was her name.....
We fought that one together......
She is buried with Socks.....
I then adopted a crazy kat who was my dragon for 2 years.....
I guess he adopted me because he found me.....
I named him Mushu.....
I took in two more kittens....
I had them tested and got a false negative on the FeLV test.....
They all ended up having it, broke with it and were euthanized with the year.....
MaMa kitty went with my ex when we got a divorce.....
She never got FeLV....
So after that it was a long time before I pondered adopting again...
But I did after my divorce because I was in a rotten place....
So I adopted KiKi from Mewtopia a cat rescue in Memphis at 9 months of age.....
He didn't replace Socks but I love him just as much.......
I found this site when a stray mama kitty decided to have kittens in my mother's garage....
Desperate with Mother cat and kitten questions....
We had racoon issues....
So we moved her and she is now in my childs bedroom....
SEPARATED until I know her status which will be as soon as she recoups some......
I had one female in all my years and the pregnant one scared me......
So here I am....
Asking for advice....
But I can give some sound advice too so hopefully I won't drive you guys nuts with kitten questions and help out with the things I know about.....
Thanks for helping me!
Everyone here is super!
