Eating poop

My Mother has several stray kitties where she lives that she feeds regularly. I have always had a cat myself but have never heard of this happening. One of her stray kittys eat poop, not sure if it's her own or someone elses poop. Can anyone tell me what we should do about this? Please help!

Wlecome to TCS. I have heard that they get some kind of protein from poop, and thats why they do it. Don't know how true that is but I've heard it a few times. Someone else may have a better answer for you.

1. Are the kitties eating enough?

2. If so are they eating the right type of diet?

I'm thinking it's Mumma probably taught it and it knows no better
