Hi everyone,
Just thought I would share my vet experience today. Brought Haze, my 15 moth old cat to the vet due to shaking head and scratching ears. I have him on revolution and he is is an indoor cat so I knew mites were less probable. The vet did a thorough exam of his ears. There was a small amount of build up but he did a micro exam and a cytology and found a small number of cocci. Haze's ear looked dry but red with some irritation so the vet is leaning towards a skin allergy and due to the scratching and infection has stared to develop. The vet originally wanted to inject Covenia but I have a bad history with another cat not doing well on it. I asked the et if there was anything else. He listened to my concern that if haze was allergic to covenia, there is no way for him to stop taking it. Haze already has a compromised immune system die to the FHV. My vet agreed and understood my concern! And he prescribed clavamox and an antihistamine. I just crush it up and put in his wet food. He always gobbles all his food at once so there is no need to worry about it sitting or not being taken. I'm in day 1 but am hopeful this will give Haze relief. He is already on z/d food due to food allergies. This poor kitty can't catch a break.
Just wanted to share that there are vets out there willing to work with you!
