Hey everyone.
I have 2 cats, one 10 years old, one about 5. The 5 year old white female cat always had ear flap issues. We thought the other cat did that (they used to fight), but I recently read about SCC (skin cancer) and decided to take the cat to the vet. The vet said its possible. We were given Animax, but that stuff made cat's ears real inflamed and it would stick to the flap, forcing us or the cat to wash or scrape it off along with upper skin layer, further worsening the situation.
So, we applied 1/3 cortisone ointment 1%, 1/3 vaseline, 1/3 SSD (cream with silver for burns). This new treatment, after only 3 days of using it, made the redness go away almost completely, but the small brown patches/dots have only subsided and the hair does grow on top of them, but they didn't go away. If they won't then the vet will amputate the ear flaps.
We no longer let her outside during the day, only at night. She always defecated/urinated outside and spent most of her time outside, but ate inside. Will she re-learn to poop in her litter box? Could cats hold it in too long (afraid of doing it in the house) and die?
She's at the door all the time, meowing crazy, wanting to go out in that sun.
