Does anyone have an E-Reader such as the Nook or the Kindle2? If so, what are the pros and cons of both. Which one do you prefer and why? I want to get one for my dad, but am still undecided as to which one would be better.
I love my Kindle (2), too, for all of the above reasons. It's extremely portable - I tuck it in my handbag whenever I leave the house. Some of my students really love the "read to me" feature, and I find the standard dictionary useful when reading older works. It's much easier on the eyes than a computer screen, and the booklight Kim mentioned makes it perfect for reading anywhere. There's a very large selection of books (not just from Amazon), many of them free. You can use Stanza to convert formats. It's definitely recommendable.Originally Posted by kluchetta
Well, I only have the Kindle, but I love it. You don't have to be hooked up to an internet connection; you download your books over a wireless network. It's AMAZING to read in bed, because it's so light and doesn't hurt my hands, plus I don't have to keep moving the book turning pages. It always opens up to the last page I read. Oh, and you can adjust the size of the print!!! I would also get one of their booklights because it's NOT like a computer that has backlighting, but I think it's easier to read.
I was all set to purchase a Kindle when my husband bought me an ipod for Christmas. When I found out you could download books to your ipod I was thrilled. Now, I don't have to have multiple devices and bring my ipod wherever I go. Now I have my music, books, games, contacts etc. all on one small device.Originally Posted by ut0pia
I read ebooks on my ipod touch, I like how it's about the same price as the kindle and nook but you can do so much more with it than only read ebooks. There are apps for barnes and noble ereader, kindle, one called ereader as well as one called stanza which both let you read ebooks that you've downloaded from pretty much anywhere in any format...
And the same features apply you can adjust the font size, etc..
I love that Border's is doing that with the Kobo books! I think it'll be great marketing for them.Originally Posted by esrgirl
I will be buying the Borders Kobo ereader when it comes out next month. I am super excited! It is $150. I will be able to sync it with my smart phone, to download new books. Borders has a app coming out for various smart phones, including the google phones, and Iphone. I'm pretty brand loyal when it comes to Borders. I like the fact that you can put a Borders ebook on any device, not just the Kobo. I'll be able to read books on my phone and use my phone's wifi to download more books.
