Hey guys! I'm new here, and have a strange problem with my VERY intelligent cat that I've never heard of, nor dealt with.
Our little female cat, Sunny, has the ability to open doors. Yes, folks, I said open doors.
The other morning, when waking my 5 yr old daughter, she mentioned that the cats had gotten into her room that night and woke her up...and to this my husband and I just looked at one another and assumed she'd been dreaming (as she most times tells us off-the-wall things like that...and we just chalk it up to dreaming). So, we both just shrugged it off, telling her, "ok, Hunny...we'll tell them to knock it off".
Well, last night I actually watched Sunny do her stuff...by standing on her hind legs, stretching up, putting her paws on the handle, and using her pawpads' friction on the doorknob and her weight to turn it and thereby open the door. We haven't experienced her doing this to our door, so the opening is something she only desires to do to our daughter's door...which is a problem!
Have any of you guys experienced this? It's really important that they not wake our daughter, as she's VERY hard to get to sleep at night, and it would disturb the whole house if our kitties kept waking her up...not to mention that she won't be getting enough sleep for school.
ANY IDEAS??? HELP!!!
