Milwaukee's Best Kosher Dill pickles are my favorite.
i like fried pickles - but i prefer the chips over the spears - bigger 'breading-to-pickle' ratio! a local restaurant near here makes them...Originally Posted by LovesMyCats
Has anyone ever had fried pickles? They are so good! My favorite ones are from Quaker Steak and Lube. They are pickle spears coated in breading and fried and topped with shredded parmesan cheese with ranch dressing on the side. They are so good.
Well, unfortunately, there probably won't be any visits to my home state anywhere in the near future.Originally Posted by LovesMyCats
KittKatt, I don't see any locations near you, but you can go visit your son and granddaughter and stop by Middleton, WI. Applebee's has them too, but they are dill pickle chips and they are REALLY salty. They aren't nearly as good as Quaker's.
The batter that they put on the spears that I've tried isn't alot. It covers the pickle thoroughly and isn't too thick.Originally Posted by laureen227

That sounds yummy. I'll have to try that sometime. Thanks!!!Originally Posted by katiemae1277
I like the Clausen refrigerated ones, spear form
My co-worker brought these divine little inventions in for a potluck one day andare they good. All you do is bet thinly sliced ham, spread the ham with cream cheese (tub kind works best) and then wrap it around a pickle- sounds crazy but
Really? I'll have to check that out.Originally Posted by LovesMyCats
**I looked online and there are recipes for making low-sodium pickles**
Are you on florinef? If so, you still need to be salting. It helps your body hold onto it but doesn't help if you don't eat enough. You also need to watch your potassium levels on it.Originally Posted by kara_leigh
I found out though that I have Addison's Disease which one of the symptoms is craving salt b/c it decreases my sodium levels.
Now that I'm on daily medication I'll eat a pickle or olive occasionally, but we don't have either of them stocked in our fridge anymore.I hardly ever even salt my food anymore, unless it is bland of course. lol
Thanks for posting those links, LoveMyCats.Originally Posted by LovesMyCats

I just went to the doc on the 22nd, which was when I found out my blood pressure had gone up higher again - which didn't surprise me any, b/c I was getting that light-headedness again like I had before my doc put me on blood pressure meds. She had to increase my dosage again.Originally Posted by strange_wings
KittKatt - if you crave salty foods that much and your blood pressure is getting worse, you should probably get in to see a doctor to make sure nothing serious is going on health wise. If nothing is found, you would probably benefit from reading about /trying a DASH diet to help your blood pressure - left untreated that can have serious consequences.
I don't understand why everything costs so much, either.Originally Posted by strange_wings
I didn't mean just a look over from the doctor and a blood pressure test - you need those blood tests.I'll never understand why they charge so much for an EKG.... The thing is strapped to you for a very short period of time and I know ink and paper isn't that expensive. Original cost of the machine and further maintenance can't be as much as what they charge per person to use it. I've lost count of how many times I've been hooked to one. It can tell if you sodium or potassium is off, too, but only if it's really far off - blood tests are better for this.
Thanks, StrangeWings.I hope you can get your disability soon.In the meantime you could look up information about diet changes to help with the BP. Online and at your local library.
