My Cruiser's name is Clarence. My Tucson's name is Hannah.
I don't know how many other people do it, but my sister and both do. We name everything. They have a large trailer that they use to haul all kinds of stuff. The trailer's name? Tome (Tow-me....get it?) When they first got the thing, we were talking about hauling some stuff up to the landfill. She said, "OK, I'll have to talk to Tome." I looked at her and said, "Huh? WTH are you talking about, woman?" And she said, "Tome! You know.....Tow-me?" Ohhhhhh!
I talk to Clarence quite often. This morning, I was going to bring Hannah into work so that I could take her to the car wash. When I started walking over to Hannah, Clarence said, "Say what? Seriously?" So....well, Hannah doesn't look too bad and we just had all that rain, so I told her I'd vacuum her out tonight and wash her windows. And Clarence and I came to work. And evidently, I'm not the only one who talks to inanimate objects. My sister was talking to BlueBird the other night when I called to talk to her about something; BlueBird is her blue vacuum cleaner; she also has OrangeBird and that's her small hand-held vacuum. FWIW, I do not talk to my Dyson, nor do I have a name for him (but, dear lord, evidently, it is a "him").
My large Kitchen Aid mixer is called Big Red; the small artisan KA is Baby Blue. My iPod is Ichabod (as in Ichabod the iPod). Maybe she and I are both just crazy; thankfully it runs in the family. And we're happy that way. But man, when things start talking back, well I don't know....we'll be sharing that room over in the hospital, I guess! Which isn't really fair because we had to share a room when we were growing up....and it wasn't pretty.
So....do you name your vehicles? Do you name anything else? Do you find yourself talking to inanimate objects? Please say yes! Don't leave me hanging out here on my own!
