For me it depends on what I work the next day. If I work the morning I usually sleep from about 1am-7:20am. If I don't work in the morning I go to sleep between 1 and 3am and will sleep until between 12 and 1pm. I just can't help it on my days off or days I don't start work the morning. I try to get up earlier but I can't. I end up just laying on the couch and falling back asleep.

I fall asleep around 11PM and wake up around 6AM and wake up for a minute around 2AM or 3AM to roll over and fall right back to sleep and sleep solid till 6AM. On weekends I usually go to bed between 12-1AM and wake up at 9AM.

I get about 8 hours sleep each night. It's interesting Carol, that the specialist says you sleep better alone. I sleep so bad when my husband is away, and much better when he's home.

So, I'm not the only one who has such an interrupted sleep. I wake up two, three, four times in the night for various reasons, but I can usually fall back pretty quickly. It's amazing how solid my sleep is when I'm visiting my mom (no animals, no waking up for work, and very little noise at her place).

Me too. I need that much sleep or else I'm exhausted the next day. On weekends, I catch up if I don't get a lot of sleep during the week. I can sleep 12 hours on the weekends.

Sleep? I'm not privy to this concept. I get to bed about midnight, the alarm goes off at 6am. I wake 2-3 times a night and need to walk around the house. Thats all I do, is walk from room to room. Then I go back to bed and fall asleep. But I often wake myself between walks when I turn over for a minute or 2 and then go right back to sleep.

I usually go to bed around 9 pm and get up around 4 am. Unfortunately, I only sleep in about 60 to 90 minute stretches, and then I'm awakened by severe lower back pain. I imagine I usually get about 5 1/2 to 6 hours of actual sleep. I never seem to feel very rested, probably because my sleep is so interrupted.

The depends... Weeknights I usually get very little... Often I don't get to sleep until late... My roommate doesn't get home until 10ish, and she and I usually go do something after, which often results in being out until at least 12 - 1 pm. Then I am awake at least an hour after... then I wake up before 7.

So.. er... best I get is 6 hours....

Weekends are a whole other story if I get my way. It's not enough to make up for my needed sleep, but it's something.

I put under 6 but it depends on which shift I'm working. If I have to work in the morning I get right at or under 6 hours. Sometimes as little as 2 (like last night...)but I usually come home and take a nap. But if I work the afternoon shift I can get 7 - 8ish hours.
I would love to get more, but it seems impossible for me anymore!

I slept for about 12.5 hours Friday night. I was exhausted all week & definately feel refreshed this week because of it!

Far far away!
Most of the time we do not get enough sleep. DH and I are both late night people so we stay up way later then we should and try to get up at a decent hour. It is so hard for us to go to bed earlier 'cause we are just not tired since we are so used to being up super late!

I probably don't sleep as much as I should, & time changes tend to mess me up for at least a week. I'm the kind of person who will stay up till I'm so tired I don't want to get up to go to bed & will sometimes let myself fall asleep on the couch, wake up at 1am or so, go to bed & have trouble going back to sleep for some reason or another. I should just go to sleep when mike does at around 10 or so, I'd be okay. I can't sleep in anymore because lately it's been giving me middle back pain where I can't stay comfortable in any position, which is a real bummer on the weekends!
I love to sleep, though & have the craziest dreams, especially in the morning right before I wake up.

I try schedule a bedtime for me so that I will get my 8 hours sleep. I have no set natural hours...just usually up around 7:30 no matter what time I went to bed the night before.

I was getting horrible sleep...similar reasons to what carol's dr. said about SO's. B comes to bed a lot later than I do and so I leave a light on for him. Recently I realized I was sleeping really lightly and got an eye mask (one of those satin ones) and now I'm back to regular sleep.

Unfortunately though I can fall asleep almost any time. Heck I could have gone to bed when I got home at 6:30 tonight...

Oh, of course experts only know what their studies show -- there are always exceptions. I know I could never sleep without Pearl and Clyde!

...Because they would yowl and scratch at the door all night long...
